Anglia Ruskin Harry Potter Society:Order of the Ruskin

It was great to see those of you who came along to our last Social, and we hope you’re all settling in well to this semester!

Our next Pub Social will be the Firebolt February Social on Monday 18^th February from 7.30pm – 9.30pm at the Tram Depot, Dover Street. It’d be great to see you all again, and talk about all things Potter over a Butterbeer!

This semester is already shaping up to be pretty magical, so we thought we’d let you in on all our exciting events coming up over the next few months. There’ll be monthly Pub Socials with a different theme, as well as some brilliant events! Some details are still yet to be confirmed, but we’ll be sending our owls out to you all in good time with all the information.

We’ll also be giving you more information in the next few weeks about how to get nominated for next year’s Committee positions. As the current Committee will all be finishing their Wizarding education and moving onto other magical things, new Witches and Wizards will be needed to fill these roles or the Society won’t be able to continue next year!

We’re looking forward to seeing many of you at the Firebolt February Social next week. Now back to that Potions essay…

Harry Potter Society Returning Social!

Welcome to a magical new year with the Order of the Ruskin!

We hope you’re returning refreshed after a Christmas break filled with Molly’s mince pies and Celestina Warbeck on the Wizarding Wireless. After an intense first semester as we set up, we hope this term will run a bit more smoothly as we plan on bringing you everything we promised and more. (Yes, this should include a Ball *better* than the Triwizard Yule Ball…)

We would like to invite you along to our first social of 2013! It will be held at our favourite, the Tram Depot on Thursday 31st January, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We’d love to see as many of you there as possible so we can update you on all our fantastic news!

We’re very excited at all the new things we have in store for you this semester, and we hope to see out our first year as a Society with a bang bigger than Dr Filibusters Fabulous No-Heat Wet-Start Fireworks.

So hop back on the Hogwarts Express with your trunk packed and ready for a new term with the Order of the Ruskin!

New for 2013!

We are pleased to announce a new part of our online presence here at the Harry Potter Society!

The Order of the Ruskin Members Forum (http://www.facebook.com/groups/224382677697395/) is a new space for all our Society members to communicate and share their love for all things Potter.

Please remember that joining the group enters you into an open environment of discussion and conversation with others. Although this will be monitored by members of the Committee this is an accessible page affiliated with both the Society and Anglia Ruskin, so please be mindful and respectful of others and their views.

So head on over and get chatting with Potterheads of all Houses and affiliations!

GET READY FOR MUGGLE QUIDDITCH…

Happy New Year to all our Quidditch-interested Potterheads!

We apologise for the vast delay in getting our Muggle Quidditch team set up. We have hit various difficulties along the way, and if we could use a time-turner and go back to the beginning we would! But things are looking good at the moment and we are in a development process, so keep an eye out on your emails over the next couple of weeks for more news, information and (hopefully) try outs!

In order to establish as an official Sports Club we need a full committee, and as such we are looking for two Quidditch-enthusiasts to fulfil the roles of ‘Administrator’ and ‘Treasurer’. These positions are fairly straightforward, and more information can be found through the SU website (in Resources) or by dropping us a message. If you’re interested, please contact us via our email account (aruquidditch@gmail.com) as we won’t be able to set up as an official team without a full committee!

We will have to ask a small membership fee from you, as this team will be separate from the Harry Potter Society, but this will be as minimal as we can make it and will only go towards getting important equipment like hoops, balls and spare brooms.

We don’t have a facebook or SU page as of yet, but we hope to soon. So for now, please look out for any emails from ‘aruquidditch@gmail.com’ and we will keep you updated!
